In an exciting new development for St Ninian’s Parish in Douglas, Reverend Steven Herron and Reverend Alex Brown are set to serve together in a ground breaking joint ministry following the retirement of Reverend Canon John Coldwell. This innovative partnership marks a first for the Patrons, CPAS, and the Diocese, bringing together two dynamic clergy members with unique experiences and gifts to serve the parish in a new and revitalising way.
A New Partnership for Ministry and Mission
Reveren Steven Herron, currently serving as SSM Curate at Marown, will step into the role of Incumbent (0.5) at St Ninian’s Parish. In addition to his ministry responsibilities, Rev Herron will continue his part-time role within the Ambulance Service, offering a blend of pastoral care and practical experience to his parishioners.
Joining him in this exciting new venture is Reverend Alex Brown, who will serve as Associate Pioneer Minister (0.5) at St Ninian’s while continuing to lead the Douglas Pioneer. Reverend Brown’s experience in pioneering ministry will bring fresh perspectives and a focus on community engagement and outreach.
Together, Steven and Alex bring a wealth of knowledge and energy, combining their skills to help encourage and revitalise the parish in both its ministry and mission efforts. They will work closely with the Churchwardens, PCC, and congregation to breathe new life into St Ninian’s and support its ongoing growth and outreach in the local community.
A Vision for Growth and Innovation
This new joint ministry is not just a shift in leadership; it is part of a broader vision to adapt and innovate in the way the church engages with both its members and the wider community. The unique partnership between Rev Herron and Rev Brown offers a fresh approach to ministry, reflecting the church’s commitment to evolving and staying relevant in today’s ever-changing world.
By sharing leadership responsibilities and drawing from their distinct backgrounds—Reverend Herron’s pastoral care and connection to the community, along with Reverend Brown’s pioneering work—the team aims to revitalise the parish, creating new opportunities for outreach, spiritual growth, and engagement within Douglas.
Prayers for the New Ministry
As this exciting new chapter begins, the Diocese encourages everyone to pray for Steven and Alex, as well as their families, as they step into these new roles. The parish of St Ninian’s will also be in the hearts and prayers of many, as they embark on this journey of transformation and renewal.
Details regarding the Installation and Licensing of Reverend Steven Herron and Reverend Alex Brown will be announced shortly, and the community is eagerly awaiting this significant moment in the life of the parish.
